' with a lot of old 4:3 aspect ratio resolution games.Interestingly, there was a bit of a problem with some of these games with Win10 early on, but it was fixed with v1511, (or was is v1607? ).Anyway, I guess MS decided to break it again in their attempt to make modern games scale betterover multiple screens. There are versions of SecuROM, Starforce & Tages from that era that do not recognise 64bit OS's (any 64bit OS ), but these games were a problembefore Win10.- It may be that MS discovered that Compatibility options are rarely useful, so they decided to makethem more important. With the v1703 update MS 'fixed' things regarding screen scaling which also means you often now have to use the Compatibility option'Override high DPI. I have more details on the evil DRM Blocking inmy post at- That said '04-'06 were particularly bad years for DRM. As you said - Compatibility mode is largely a joke, but in regard to olddisk based gamesthat use SafeDisk copy protection Compatibility is completely useless. This is because, while you may get an error that says 'Login as Admin', it it completely bogus. The game is being actively blocked by MS.
